Book Review: The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy

The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rating: 4/5

Imagine a life without scents, stars in the sky or even dreams and nightmares. This is the reality for the people of Sterling. Every 7 years something else disappears. It’s a curse, they say. But who caused it? And more importantly, who can break it?

This book was…. not what I expected at all. It’s a tale about grief. About love. About the power of friendship, and the importance of family. And it’s about the little things you won’t miss until they’re gone for good.

It started off a bit slow, but once you get into Sterling and meet the characters, it quickly takes off.

I would recommend this for people who enjoyed books like Bone Gap or The Raven Boys.
